Regular Season Round 4: Abejas - Osos 87-79

Everything could happen in Guanajuato at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Abejas and 11th ranked Osos had identical 1-2 record. This time Abejas used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from 87-79 on Thursday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-17. But Osos won second period 25-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Abejas dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Osos' 32. Osos were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195, college: W.Kentucky) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and forward Eugene Phelps (198, college: Long Beach St.) who added 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Keith Gayden (202-83, college: Duquesne) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and guard Marlyn Bryant (193-82, college: S.Florida) scored 20 points. Abejas (2-2) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Osos lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the eleventh position with three games lost. Abejas will face bottom-ranked Gigantes (#16) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Osos will play against Lechugueros (#12) in Leon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
