Regular Season Round 6: Osos - Huracanes 95-108

No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Huracanes (4-2) beat on the road 13th ranked Osos (1-5) 108-95 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Huracanes. Osos was better in third quarter 27-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Huracanes outrebounded Osos 35-22 including 24 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 63.2 percentage. It was a good game for American swingman Anthony Johnson (197-79, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 30 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots). The former international point guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) contributed with 23 points and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. American swingman Samuel Bowie (198-75, college: SE Louisiana) replied with 22 points and his fellow American import guard Marlyn Bryant (193-82, college: S.Florida) added 17 points in the effort for Osos. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Huracanes have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Osos lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fourteenth position with five games lost. Huracanes will face bottom-ranked Gigantes (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Osos will play against Correcaminos in Ciudad Victoria.
