Regular Season Round 1: Gimle BBK - Tromso 74-52
Date: September 21, 2012
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Tromso (2-1) in Bergen on Friday night. Visitors were rolled over by second ranked Gimle BBK (2-1) 74-52. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tromso. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-52. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Delano Thomas (203-81, college: Shawnee St.) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Stian Enge (190-90) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Gimle BBK players scored in double figures. American forward Jonathan Jones (196-88, college: Kean) answered with 12 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard Gary Wallace (187-88, college: Robert Morris, agency: TSS Management) added 16 points in the effort for Tromso. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gimle BBK maintains second place with 2-1 record having just -1 point less than leader Centrum, which they share with Tromso and Froya Basket. Gimle BBK is looking forward to face Baerum Basket (#5) in Bekkestua in the next round. Tromso will play on the road against Froya Basket in Laksevag and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
