Very important is a road loss of third ranked Panteras (5-2) against twelfth ranked Soles (3-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Panteras were defeated by Soles in a tough game in Mexicali 74-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Panteras. The hosts were ahead by 4 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 20-14 run, which allowed them to win the game. Soles outrebounded Panteras 42-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American Alexander Franklin (196-88, college: Siena) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import center Kentrell Gransberry (206-85, college: S.Florida) accounted for 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. American power forward Lee Nailon (205-75, college: TCU) came up with 30 points and 6 rebounds and Panamanian power forward Antonio Garcia (203-76, college: Ky Wesleyan) added 13 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Panteras in the defeat. Panteras' coach Juan Cardona rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Soles moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Panteras at the other side keep the third position with two games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Soles will play against higher ranked Abejas (#4) in Guanajuato in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panteras will play against Gigantes and hope to get back on the winning track.
