Regular Season Round 9: Halc.Rojos - Gansos 111-50

Bottom-ranked Gansos (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 111-50 loss to third ranked Halcones Rojos (7-2) in Veracruz. The game without a history. Halcones Rojos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Gansos' 14. Halcones Rojos forced 23 Gansos turnovers. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Gansos were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Leroy Davis (200-81, college: Georgia St.) who led his team to a victory with 20 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The former international guard Francisco Cruz (190-89, college: Wyoming) contributed with 16 points and 4 steals for the winners. Four Halcones Rojos players scored in double figures. Jorge Perez (-85) answered with 26 points and Christopher Duran added 9 points in the effort for Gansos. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Halcones Rojos have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 7-2 record behind leader Halc.Xalapa, which they share with Panteras. Newly promoted Gansos still closes the standings with nine games lost. They share the position with Gigantes. Halcones Rojos will play against Panteras (#4) in Aguascalientes in the next round. Gansos will play against Osos (#14) and hope to get finally their first victory.
