The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Halcones UV Xalapa as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Halcones UV Xalapa smashed 13th ranked Guerreros at home 128-82. The game without a history. Halcones UV Xalapa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Guerreros' 44 and made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Guerreros 46-29 including a 37-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Halcones UV Xalapa looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Guerreros' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Halcones UV Xalapa made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) who scored 27 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field).
