Regular Season Round 2: Nantes - Villeneuve 84-74
Date: September 29, 2012
Very predictable result when top-ranked Nantes Reze (2-0) defeated at home bottom-ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (0-2) 84-74. The game was mostly controlled by Nantes Reze. Villeneuve D'Ascq was better in fourth quarter 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nantes Reze made 22-of-25 charity shots (88.0 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Villeneuve D'Ascq helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Ukrainian-Bulgarian center Viktoria Mircheva (190-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points. The former international power forward Marielle Amant (190-89) contributed with 20 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners. Four Nantes Reze players scored in double figures. point guard Bintou Dieme (164-84) replied with 23 points and Nigerian center Olayinka Sanni (188-86, college: W.Virginia, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Villeneuve D'Ascq. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Nantes Reze keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Villeneuve D'Ascq at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. Nantes Reze's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Basket Landes in Mont de Marsan and it will be for sure the game of the week. Villeneuve D'Ascq will play at home against Aix-en-Provence (#6) in Les Milles.
