Regular Season Round 1: Torino - Perugia 74-61

Date: September 30, 2012
We should mention about the upset which took place in Torino, where bottom-ranked Perugia (0-1) lost to leader Torino (1-0) in a road game 61-74. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Torino. Perugia was better in fourth quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Power forward Filippo Baldi Rossi (207-91) nailed a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and naturalized Polish power forward Jakub Wojciechowski (210-90) accounted for 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Torino players scored in double figures. Davide Poltroneri (195-85) came up with 27 points and 7 rebounds and Costantino Cutolo (198-89, agency: Players Group) added 11 points respectively for Perugia in the defeat. Perugia's coach Andrea Fabrizi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Torino keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 7 other teams. Perugia at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Torino's next round opponent will be Casalpusterlengo (#13) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Perugia will play against Mazzeo San Severo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
