Everything could happen in Lodz at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked BI SSA Gdynia and bottom-ranked Widzew had identical 0-1 record. But Widzew was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Gdynia 78-72. Widzew was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Widzew was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Malgorzata Misiuk (184-91) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. American swingman Antonia Bennett (185-90, college: Florida A&M) contributed with 17 points for the winners. BI SSA Gdynia's coach Miroslaw Noculak allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Czech center Leona Jankowska (190-77) replied with 24 points and 7 rebounds and forward Aleksandra Pawlak (189-84) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Widzew. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. BI SSA Gdynia (1-1) left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with Energa Torun and ROW Rybnik. Widzew at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with Lider Pruszkow. BI SSA Gdynia will play against PTK Pabianice (#9) at home in the next round. Widzew will play against Energa Torun to get more than just one victory in their record.
