Regular Season Round 7: Union Progr. - Quimsa 91-85

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Union Progresista (1-5) beat 5th ranked Quimsa (2-4) in Villa Angela 91-85 on Thursday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Quimsa won fourth quarter 27-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Union Progresista made 27-of-30 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Union Progresista especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. Quite impressive performance for British-American forward Darren Phillip (201-78, college: Fairfield) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Swingman Christian Schoppler (185-86) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Guard Nicolas Aguirre (188-88) answered with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and American center James Williams (204-79, college: Brown Mackie, agency: Dream Team Management) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Quimsa. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Union Progresista left bottom position moving up to seventh place in North. Loser Quimsa dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Union Progresista will face league's leader Libertad Sunchales at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
