Regular Season Round 10: Gigantes - Guerreros 102-99

There was a small surprise when sixteenth ranked Gigantes (1-9) edged at home 13th ranked Guerreros (2-8) 102-99 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 3 points. Worth to mention a great performance of British V.Islands-Vincentian center John Gardiner (203-83, college: Sam Houston St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American guard Sam Liggins (178, college: Alders.-Broad.) contributed with 22 points for the winners. American forward Travis Gabbidon (201, college: UTSA) replied with 31 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Michael Hunter (178, college: Cal-Irvine) added 26 points in the effort for Guerreros. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Guerreros' coach Marcelo Elusich tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Gigantes left bottom position moving up to fifteenth place. It was Guerreros' fourth loss in a row. Guerreros at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the thirteenth position with eight games lost. Gigantes will face bottom-ranked Gansos (#16) in the next round.
