Regular Season Round 1: Toyota Alvark - Tochigi Brex 85-54

Everything went according to plan in Fuchu where leader Toyota Alvark (2-0) outleveled bottom-ranked Tochigi Brex (0-2) 85-54 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Tochigi Brex was better in fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Tochigi Brex 54-27 including a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Takayuki Kumagai (190-85) fired 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. International power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. International power forward Shunsuke Ito (204-79) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and the former international center Daiji Yamada (200-81) added 12 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Tochigi Brex still closes the standings with two games lost. Toyota Alvark will face Mitsubishi Dolphins (#7) in Nagoya in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Tochigi Brex will play at home against Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa.
