Regular Season Round 11: Osos - Guerreros 88-90

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both thirteenth ranked Guerreros and 14th ranked Osos had identical 2-8 record. But Osos were not able to use a home court advantage and were edged by the opponent from 90-88 on Saturday night. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-14. But Osos won second period 21-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for American-Puerto Rican power forward Angel Alamo (206-85) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Travis Gabbidon (201, college: UTSA) helped adding 20 points and 9 rebounds. Gabbidon is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Guerreros players scored in double figures. American swingman Samuel Bowie (198-75, college: SE Louisiana) responded with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import swingman Michael Helton (198-87, college: Hawaii-Pacific) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Newly promoted Guerreros maintains thirteenth place with 3-8 record. Osos at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the fourteenth position with nine games lost. Guerreros will face league's second-placed Toros in Nuevo Laredo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Osos will play on the road against Soles (#4) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
