A very interesting game took place in Venezia. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of Trenkwalder RE (0-2) to Umana Venezia (1-1) 60-58 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Trenkwalder RE won third quarter 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Umana Venezia won last quarter 13-13. 25 personal fouls committed by Trenkwalder RE helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American center Eric Williams (206-84, college: Wake Forest) orchestrated the victory by scoring 8 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import point guard Alvin Young (188-75, college: Niagara) contributed with 10 points for the winners. International point guard Andrea Cinciarini (190-86) replied with 15 points and 6 rebounds and American-Swiss Greg Brunner (201-83, college: Iowa) added 4 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Trenkwalder RE. Trenkwalder RE's coach Massimiliano Menetti tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Umana Venezia's next round opponent will be Scavolini Pesaro on the road. Trenkwalder RE will play against Lottomatica Roma.
