Regular Season Round 2: Nice - Roche 77-69
Date: October 6, 2012
Rather predictable result when top-ranked Nice (2-0) defeated at home bottom-ranked Roche (0-1) 77-69. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-14. But Roche won third quarter 26-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Roche 44-28 including 20 on the offensive glass. Nice players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Senegalese center Jeanne Senghor (191-82) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and forward Fabienne Constant (186-86) supported her with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Even 21 points and 6 rebounds by guard Johana Tayeau (173-89) did not help to save the game for Roche. Center Maricme Badiane (191-94) added 14 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Four Roche players scored in double figures. Nice keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Angers and LTB 29. Roche at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Nice will play against bottom-ranked SIG (#13) in llkirch-Graff. in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Roche will play on the road against Reims (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
