Very important is a road loss of second ranked BC Nokia (0-1) against leader Torpan Pojat (1-0) on Saturday night. Visiting BC Nokia was crushed by Torpan Pojat in Helsinki 75-55. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Torpan Pojat. BC Nokia was better in second period 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Torpan Pojat dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to BC Nokia's 32. Guard Katri Menna (170-86) answered with 16 points and American guard Amani Franklin (180-88, college: Kentucky) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for BC Nokia. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Torpan Pojat keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted BC Nokia still closes the standings with one game lost. Torpan Pojat will have a break next round. BC Nokia will play at home against the league's leader Catz Lappeenranta (#1).
