Regular Season Round 4: JX Sunflowers - Aishin AW 94-72

Bottom-ranked Aishin Wings (0-3) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their third consecutive match to top-ranked JX Sunflowers (3-0) 94-72. The game was mostly controlled by JX Sunflowers. Aishin Wings was better in fourth quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Aishin Wings 44-22 including a 29-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. JX Sunflowers players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a very good performance for the former international power forward Yuka Mamiya (185-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (191-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Five JX Sunflowers players scored in double figures. Power forward Shiyu Sato (178-87) replied with 16 points and 5 rebounds and forward Yuka Maeda (173-84) added 14 points in the effort for Aishin Wings. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. JX Sunflowers have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Aishin Wings at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. JX Sunflowers' next round opponent will be again Aishin Wings (#9) in Anjo and are hoping to win another game.
