Regular Season Round 4: Denso Iris - Hitachi Cougars 64-53

Denso Iris has registered their first victory this season after two consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Hitachi Cougars (0-3) 64-53. It looked good early as Hitachi Cougars took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Denso Iris had a 19-13 second period charge getting the lead and Hitachi Cougars were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 53-64. The winners were led by international guard Kumiko Oba (169-88) who scored that evening 17 points and 7 assists and international forward Arisa Fujiwara (175-87) supported her with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Even 10 points and 8 rebounds by Aiko Ishihara (178-92) did not help to save the game for Hitachi Cougars. International forward Mami Yamada (176-88) added 11 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Denso Iris (1-2) left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Niigata. It was Hitachi Cougars' third loss in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Denso Iris will again play against Hitachi Cougars (#10) in Hitachinaka in the next round. Hitachi Cougars will have a break next round.
