Regular Season Round 5: Aishin AW - JX Sunflowers 55-77

Bottom-ranked Aishin Wings (0-4) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to leader JX Sunflowers (4-0) 77-55 on Sunday evening. The game was mostly controlled by JX Sunflowers. Aishin Wings was better in fourth quarter 18-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international power forward Yuka Mamiya (185-90) stepped up and scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Aya Okamoto (161-91) chipped in 24 points. Power forward Kiyoko Hamaguti (181-90) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and forward Yuka Maeda (173-84) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. JX Sunflowers have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Chanson V-M and Fujitsu RW. Loser Aishin Wings still closes the standings with four games lost. JX Sunflowers will face bottom-ranked Yamanashi QB (#12) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Aishin Wings will play against the league's leader Chanson V-M in Shizuoka and look forward to get finally their first victory.
