We should mention about the upset which took place in Bari, where higher ranked Matera (1-1) lost to top-ranked Bari (1-0) in a road game 74-81 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Matera won third quarter 27-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Bari won last quarter 24-18. They made 32-of-39 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game, while Matera only scored ten points from the stripe. They outrebounded Matera 47-25 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Antonio Ruggiero (190-81) scored 26 points and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Luca Bisconti (206-82) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Five Bari players scored in double figures. Naturalized Argentinian guard Carlos Sebastian Vico (190-86, agency: Players Group) responded with 15 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and the former international power forward Massimo Rezzano (203-82) scored 22 points. Bari left bottom position moving up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Matera dropped to the eighth position with one game lost. They share it with 6 other teams. Bari will meet bottom-ranked Perugia (#20) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Matera will play against the league's second-placed Lucca (#2).
