Regular Season Round 2: Agrigento - Mirandola 83-76

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Mirandola (0-2) was defeated on the road by top-ranked Agrigento (2-0) 83-76. It looked good early as Mirandola took an 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Agrigento had a 29-11 second period charge getting the lead and Mirandola was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 76-83. Agrigento forced 23 Mirandola turnovers. Guard Paolo Mossi (193-76) notched 9 points and 8 assists to lead the effort and center Quirino De Laurentiis (206-92) supported him with 12 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Agrigento's coach Franco Ciani allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds by forward Luca Pignatti (195-86) did not help to save the game for Mirandola. point guard Jordan Losi (182-80, agency: Two Points) added 16 points and 5 assists for the guests. Five Mirandola players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Agrigento maintains first position with 2-0 record, which they share with Treviglio and Lucca. Mirandola at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with two games lost. Agrigento's next round opponent will be Latina Basket (#17) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Mirandola will play against Reggio Calabr. in Reggio Calabria.
