Regular Season Round 1: Toyama Grouses - Gunma 87-74

No shocking result in a game when leader Toyama Grouses (2-0) beat at home bottom-ranked Gunma (0-2) 87-74 on Monday. They outrebounded Gunma 42-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a very good performance for American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga, agency: SDJ Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Guard Takeshi Mito (184-85) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. Guard Kenya Tomori (177-84) answered with 15 points and guard Toshino Tatsuhiko (185-88) added 13 points in the effort for Gunma. Gunma's coach Tadashi Hayashi let to play twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Toyama Grouses keep a position of league leader, which they share with Okinawa GK and Iwate Big Bulls. Newly promoted Gunma still closes the standings with two games lost. Toyama Grouses will face Akita Happinets (#4) on the road in the next round. Gunma will play against Shinshu BW (#7) in Nagano.
