Regular Season Round 2: Stjarnan - Keflavik 101-83
Date: October 11, 2012
Rather expected game when Keflavik (0-2) lost on the road to Stjarnan (2-0) 101-83 on Thursday. The game without a history. Stjarnan led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 28-of-35 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Stjarnan had a 35-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Naturalized American guard Justin Shouse (180-81, college: Mercyhurst) notched 27 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the effort and swingman Marvin Valdimarsson (198-81) supported him with 31 points and 8 rebounds. Even 14 points and 7 rebounds by American guard Kevin Giltner (198-89, college: Wofford) did not help to save the game for Keflavik. The former international guard Darrel Lewis (192-76, college: Lincoln, MO, agency: Two Points) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Five Keflavik players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Stjarnan will meet Snaefell in the next round where they are favorite. Keflavik will play against KR in Reykjavik.
