Regular Season Round 12: Lechugueros - Panteras 90-72

We should mention about the upset which took place in Leon, where higher ranked Panteras (7-5) lost to twelfth ranked Lechugueros (5-7) in a road game 72-90. It looked good early as Panteras took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Lechugueros had a 27-22 second period charge getting the lead and Panteras were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-90. They outrebounded Panteras 41-29 including a 30-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lechugueros players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Panteras' players. The winners were led by naturalized American forward Adrian Sanchez (196-86) who scored that evening 28 points and 5 rebounds and Senegalese center Babacar Camara (211-81, college: CS Fullerton) supported him with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Four Lechugueros players scored in double figures. Even 14 points by Panamanian power forward Antonio Garcia (203-76, college: Ky Wesleyan) did not help to save the game for Panteras. Puerto Rican point guard Ricardo Melendez (179-83, agency: Paris Global Sports) added 15 points. Panteras' coach Juan Cardona rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Lechugueros maintains twelfth position with 5-7 record. Panteras lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. Lechugueros' next round opponent will be higher ranked Barreteros (#9) in Zacatecas and it may be quite challenging game.
