Regular Season Round 3: Ballon Inter - UCD Marian 48-65

The biggest surprise of round 3 was guest UCD Marian's (2-1) easy road victory over Ballon Inter (1-2) 65-48 on Friday evening. They outrebounded Ballon Inter 57-36 including a 23-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward John Galvin (203-88, college: Fair Dickinson) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds. Guard Conor Meany (185-86) chipped in 10 points. UCD Marian's coach Sasa Punosevac used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian forward Irmantas Griksas (202-86) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and Lithuanian power forward Aurimas Statkus (201-81) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively. UCD Marian moved-up to third place, which they share with DCU Saints. Newly promoted Ballon Inter dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Killester. UCD Marian is looking forward to face DCU Saints (#3) in Dublin in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Ballon Inter will play at home against Killester in Dublin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
