Regular Season Round 2: Breakers - 36ers 73-59

There was a change at the NBL leadership position after last games. Round 2 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Adelaide 36ers (1-1). They were defeated by sixth ranked New Zealand Breakers (1-1) 73-59 on Friday night. Adelaide 36ers were trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 27-12 charge of New Zealand Breakers, which allowed them to win the game. New Zealand Breakers outrebounded Adelaide 36ers 49-32 including 19 on the offensive glass. American guard Cedric Jackson (191-86, college: Cleveland St.) scored 17 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and New Zealand center Alex Pledger (213-87, college: Belm.Abbey) chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Center Daniel Johnson (212-88, college: Pepperdine) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and the former international power forward Anthony Petrie (203-83) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Defending champion left bottom position moving up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Adelaide 36ers. Adelaide 36ers will play next round against Cairns Taipans trying to make it back to the top of the standings. New Zealand Breakers will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Townsville Crocodiles in Wulguru.
