Regular Season Round 3: Sparta - Amicale 84-66

Diekirch League round 3 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of Amicale (2-1) against leader Sparta (3-0) 84-66 was the most important game of the last round. The game without a history. Sparta led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Sparta outrebounded Amicale 39-28 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Amicale's players. It was a good game for the former international forward Larrie Smith (198-75, college: Tenn Tech) who led his team to a victory with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard Kasey Ulin (181-82, college: Dickinson St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Four Sparta players scored in double figures. American forward Reggie Golson (201-81, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Court Side) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and the former international guard Eric Jeitz (191-86) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Amicale. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sparta have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Etzella. Amicale at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They share the position with T71 and Contern. They were replaced at the leadership position by Etzella. Amicale will play next round against Residence trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Sparta will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked T71 in Dudelange.
