Regular Season Round 2: Biassono - Udine 35-57
Date: October 13, 2012
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both thirteenth ranked Udine and bottom-ranked Biassono had identical 0-1 record. But Biassono was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from Udine 57-35 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Udine. Biassono was better in third quarter 18-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Biassono to just 4 points in first and fourth quarters and to 13 points in first half. Udine held Biassono to an opponent 23.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.4 percent accuracy of the winners. Udine forced 31 Biassono turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. Guard Chiara Rossi (170-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 10 points and 8 rebounds. Swedish center Jenny Lidgren (191-88) contributed with 9 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. point guard Giulia Porro (166-95) replied with 16 points and swingman Sara Canova (174-89) added 9 points in the effort for Biassono. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Udine (1-1) left bottom position moving up to fourth place in North, which they share with 7 other teams. Loser Biassono still closes the standings with two games lost. Udine will face San Salvatore (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Biassono will play against Virtus Cagliari and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
