Regular Season Round 6: Ebara Vickies - Toyota A. 56-93

We should mention about the upset which took place in Tokyo, where higher ranked Ebara Vickies (3-2) were outleveled at home by ninth ranked Toyota A. (2-3) 93-56. Toyota A. dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Ebara Vickies' 26. Toyota A. forced 21 Ebara Vickies turnovers and outrebounded them 46-24 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Toyota A. players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. International guard Maya Kawahara (167-87) notched 28 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the former international forward Ryoko Yano (178-78) supported her with 8 points and 17 rebounds. Four Toyota A. players scored in double figures. Even 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Kazumi Ogawa (178-86) did not help to save the game for Ebara Vickies. Mitsuboshi Hayano (175-86) added 8 points and 4 steals. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota A. moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Toyota B SR. Newly promoted Ebara Vickies dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Toyota A. will have a break next round. Ebara Vickies will play again on the road against Toyota A. (#7) in Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
