Regular Season Round 13: Gansos - Toros 81-102

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Gansos (1-12) were crushed at home by second ranked Toros (10-2) 102-81 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Toros. Gansos managed to win third quarter 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: ProSportsCareers) stepped up and scored 18 points for the winners and naturalized American forward Quentin Gonzalez (200-84, college: McNeese St.) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Toros' coach Jose Martinez felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side forward Alejandro Zarco (205-85) responded with 25 points and American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Toros maintains second place with 10-2 record having just three points less than leader Halc.Xalapa. Newly promoted Gansos keep the fifteenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Gigantes. Toros will meet bottom-ranked Gigantes (#16) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Gansos will play against Soles in Mexicali.
