Regular Season Round 3: Kataja - Kauhajoki 89-66
Date: October 13, 2012
The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Kauhajoen Karhu (2-1) on the court of eighth ranked Joensuun Kataja on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Joensuun Kataja 89-66. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kauhajoen Karhu. The game was mostly controlled by Joensuun Kataja. Kauhajoen Karhu managed to win third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Joensuun Kataja made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for swingman Jonte Flowers (196-85, college: Winona St., agency: Warren Sports International) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 7 rebounds. point guard Johnell Smith (180-80, college: New Orleans) helped adding 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward J'Nathan Bullock (196-87, college: Cleveland St., agency: Pro One Sports) with 16 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Tremaine Ford (206-86, college: CS Northridge) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Joensuun Kataja moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Kauhajoen Karhu. Joensuun Kataja is looking forward to face Kouvot (#7) in Kouvola in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Kauhajoen Karhu will play at home against UU-Korihait (#9) in Uusikaupunki and is hoping to win this game.
