Regular Season Round 2: Tezenis VE - Fileni BPA Jesi 67-58

There was a minor upset in Verona where one of their biggest challengers Fileni BPA Jesi (1-1) was defeated by Tezenis VE (1-1) 67-58 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Fileni BPA Jesi won third quarter 14-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nigerian-American power forward Olaseni Lawal (208-86, college: Wayne St., MI) scored 7 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Charlie Westbrook (193-89, college: S.Dakota) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Lawal is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The former international center Michele Maggioli (212-77) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Eric Griffin (203-90, college: Campbell) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tezenis VE will face Tuscany Pistoia on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fileni BPA Jesi will play against Biancoblu BO in Bologna.
