Regular Season Round 2: Hitachi SR - Aishin SH 67-49

Round 2 in JBL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Osaka where host Hitachi Sunrockers (1-3) beat league's leader Aishin Sea Horses (3-1) 67-49 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Aishin Sea Horses. The game was mostly controlled by Hitachi Sunrockers. Aishin Sea Horses managed to win third quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hitachi Sunrockers dominated on the defensive end, holding Aishin Sea Horses to just 5 points in first quarter. The best player for the winners was American power forward Jamar Smith (206-80, college: Maryland) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. International power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. The former international power forward J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) produced 7 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists and Jamaican center Kevin Young (206-84, college: Missouri) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Hitachi Sunrockers left bottom position moving up to fifth place. Aishin Sea Horses at the other side dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Panasonic T.. Aishin Sea Horses will play next round against strong Toshiba Thunders trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Hitachi Sunrockers will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins in Nagoya.
