No shocking result in a game in Mexicali where fourth ranked Soles (9-4) smashed bottom-ranked Gigantes (1-12) 110-60 on Saturday. The game without a history. Soles led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gigantes to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Soles dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Gigantes' 30. They outrebounded Gigantes 55-29 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international forward Roman Martinez (201-88, college: N.Mexico) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American Alexander Franklin (196-88, college: Siena) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds. Five Soles players scored in double figures. Coach Ivan Deniz's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American power forward John Ruffus (207-81, college: Fayetteville St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and British V.Islands-Vincentian center John Gardiner (203-83, college: Sam Houston St.) scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Soles. They maintain fourth place with 9-4 record. Gigantes lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. They share it with Gansos. Soles will meet Gansos (#15) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Gigantes will play against the league's second-placed Toros in Nuevo Laredo.
