Regular Season Round 4: Tarbes - Perpignan 60-53

Date: October 13, 2012
Tarbes' fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Perpignan (2-2) 60-53 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Perpignan won third quarter 22-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tarbes dominated on the defensive end, holding Perpignan to just 5 points in second quarter. They made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The winners were led by international guard Paoline Salagnac (176-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who scored that evening 19 points and American forward Angelica Robinson (197-87, college: Georgia) supported her with 6 points and 10 rebounds. Even 14 points and 6 rebounds by Australian center Abby Bishop (189-88) did not help to save the game for Perpignan. The former international power forward Pauline Lo (193-87) added 15 points for lost side. Tarbes (1-3) left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with Villeneuve and Arras. Newly promoted Perpignan dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with 6 other teams. Tarbes will meet bottom-ranked Union Hainaut (#14) in the next round. Perpignan will play against the league's second-placed Nantes Reze (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
