Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Buenos Aires: Boca Juniors (#6) and Obras (#4). Obras was smashed at home by 18 points 80-98 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Obras was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Boca Juniors dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Obras' 32. They outrebounded Obras 39-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. Boca Juniors players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Naturalized American guard Phillip Hopson (188-87, college: Idaho) scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots) to lead the charge for the winners and American forward John DeGroat (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Boca Juniors' coach Nestor Garcia allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side international power forward Juan Gutierrez (205-83) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and the former international guard Julio Mazzaro (188-79) scored 17 points. Four Boca Juniors and five Obras players scored in double figures. Boca Juniors (5-4) moved-up to fourth place in South. Obras lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Boca Juniors will play against league's leader Penarol in Mar del Plata in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Obras will play at home against Wuber-Est.Bahia (#7) in Bahia Blanca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
