LigaA top team - Penarol (8-2) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they beat fifth ranked Wuber-Est.Bahia (3-6) in Bahia Blanca 79-63. The game without a history. Penarol led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a very good performance for international point guard Facundo Campazzo (179-91) who helped to win the game recording 9 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists. The former international Marcos Mata (201-86) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. American swingman Richard Roby (198-85) replied with 18 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Marcus Fizer (203-78, college: Iowa St.) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Wuber-Est.Bahia. Penarol have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position in South with 8-2 record. Loser Wuber-Est.Bahia dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. Penarol will face Boca Juniors (#4) in Buenos Aires in the next round. Wuber-Est.Bahia will play on the road against Obras in Buenos Aires and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
