Regular Season Round 4: Hoganas - Malbas 91-74
Date: October 14, 2012
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Malbas (2-2) lost on the road to sixth ranked Hoganas (3-2) 91-74 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Hoganas. Malbas was better in second period 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Malbas' 34. They outrebounded Malbas 48-29 including 19 on the offensive glass. It was a very good performance for Lithuanian forward Nerijus Strazdauskas (198-84) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Lithuanian guard Evaldas Juozapaitis (189-84) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Five Hoganas players scored in double figures. American point guard Dwight Bankhead (181-83) replied with 21 points and 4 assists and guard Kristoffer Gafor (194-92) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Malbas. Malbas' coach Henrik Svensson tested eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Hoganas moved-up to fifth place in South, which they share with Eskilstuna. Loser Malbas dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. Hoganas will face higher ranked Brahe Basket (#4) in Huskvarna in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
