Regular Season Round 4: AZS PP - UMKS Kielce 65-73

Bottom-ranked AZS PP (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 73-65 loss to eleventh ranked UMKS Kielce (2-2) in Pozoan. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-16. But AZS PP won second period 21-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. UMKS Kielce forced 27 AZS PP turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The winners were led by guard Artur Busz (194-88) who scored that evening 17 points and 5 rebounds and forward Lukasz Fafara (194-84) supported him with 9 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. Even a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds by center Marek Sobkowiak (200-86) did not help to save the game for AZS PP. point guard Pawel Hybiak (173-89) added 11 points for lost side. Four AZS PP players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. UMKS Kielce moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams. AZS PP at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with four games lost. UMKS Kielce's next round opponent will be higher ranked P.Cukier SIDEn (#5) in Torun and it may be quite challenging game. AZS PP will play on the road against AZS Kutno (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
