Not a big story in a game in Montevideo where 14th ranked Larre Borges (2-6) were rolled over by second ranked Hebraica (7-2) 83-60 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Hebraica. Larre Borges was better in fourth quarter 24-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Larre Borges 52-36 including a 40-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hebraica looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Larre Borges' players. Naturalized Spanish guard Gustavo Barrera (194-85) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 assists for the winners and Brazilian center Hatila Passos (211-86, college: N.Mexico St.) chipped in 13 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Hebraica players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Nigerian center Ike Udanoh (203-89, college: Wayne St., MI) with 14 points and 9 rebounds and American-British center Gerald January (201-88, college: Montevallo, agency: Hightower Law Firm) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hebraica have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 7-2 record behind leader Malvin. Larre Borges lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with six games lost. Hebraica will face Nacional (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
