Regular Season Round 14: Huracanes - Barreteros 91-81

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Barreteros (7-7) lost to ninth ranked Huracanes (7-5) in Tampico 81-91. The game was mostly controlled by Huracanes. Barreteros was better in fourth quarter 27-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Barreteros 45-22 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Huracanes players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American players dominated the game. Swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Anthony Johnson (197-79, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Guard Jason Horton (188-86, college: Missouri) responded with 13 points and 5 assists and forward Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) scored 16 points. Five Barreteros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Huracanes moved-up to eighth place. Barreteros at the other side dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Corr.Victoria. Huracanes will play against higher ranked Panteras (#6) in Aguascalientes in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Barreteros will play on the road against Correcaminos in Ciudad Victoria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
