Regular Season Round 14: Gigantes - Toros 82-105

Very predictable result when second ranked Toros (11-2) rolled over on the road bottom-ranked Gigantes (1-13) 105-82. The game was mostly controlled by Toros. Gigantes was better in fourth quarter 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 27-of-33 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: ProSportsCareers) scored 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American-Nigerian forward Ike Ofoegbu (205-85, college: SMU, agency: Paris Global Sports) chipped in 20 points during the contest. American power forward John Ruffus (207-81, college: Fayetteville St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import guard Sam Liggins (178, college: Alders.-Broad.) scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Toros and four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toros have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 11-2 record having just three points less than leader Halc.Xalapa. Gigantes lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Gansos. Toros will play against Osos (#14) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Gigantes will play against Fuerza Regia in Monterrey to get more than just one victory in their record.
