LNBP top team - Halcones UV Xalapa (13-1) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Abejas (8-6) 123-95. The game without a history. Halcones UV Xalapa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 86 of its points in the paint compared to Abejas' 62. They outrebounded Abejas 51-33 including a 24-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Halcones UV Xalapa looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 21 passes made by Abejas' players. American forward Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. The other American import guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) contributed with 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American-Jamaican forward McHugh Mattis (198-84, college: S.Florida) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Roman Andrade (188, college: N.Mexico Highlands) added 21 points and 7 assists in the effort for Abejas. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Halcones UV Xalapa have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-1 record. Abejas at the other side dropped to the sixth place with six games lost. They share the position with Panteras. Halcones UV Xalapa are looking forward to face Lechugueros (#12) in Leon in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Abejas will play on the road against Halcones Rojos (#3) in Veracruz and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
