Regular Season Round 8: JX Sunflowers - Chanson V-M 84-70

There was a change at the WJBL leadership position after last games. The most important game of round 8 took place in Kashiwa between two undefeated teams where JX Sunflowers beat Chanson V-M (6-1) 84-70 on Friday night. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Chanson V-M. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by JX Sunflowers. Chanson V-M managed to win second period 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JX Sunflowers dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Chanson V-M's 32 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. JX Sunflowers had a 28-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when JX Sunflowers made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (191-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists and international point guard Asami Yoshida (165-87) who added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four JX Sunflowers players scored in double figures. JX Sunflowers' coach Kiyomi Sato used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Minaho Miyoshi (167-93) responded with 14 points and guard Makoto Rin (168-88) scored 18 points. JX Sunflowers (7-0) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion (7-0) keeps a position of league leader. Chanson V-M at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by JX Sunflowers. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
