Regular Season Round 5: TuRi - ToPo 67-77

Bottom-ranked TuRi (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 77-67 loss to fourth ranked Torpan Pojat (3-1) in on Saturday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to TuRi's 38 and made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. The former international power forward Niina Laaksonen (185-85) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 25 rebounds for the winners and international guard Vilma Kesanen (179-88) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). American forward Callan Taylor (182-90, college: Sacred Heart) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds and Canadian guard Brittany Hedderson (175-90, college: Buffalo) scored 10 points. Torpan Pojat moved-up to third place, which they share with PeKa. TuRi lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
