Regular Season Round 3: AO Ellinikou - Panionios 89-33

A1 top team - AO Ellinikou (3-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Panionios (0-3) 89-33. The game without a history. AO Ellinikou led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Panionios to just 7 points in first and fourth quarters. AO Ellinikou dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Panionios' 24. AO Ellinikou forced 38 Panionios turnovers and outrebounded them 35-22 including a 15-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a quality performance for American forward Breanna Brock (187-90, college: Missouri) who led the winners and scored 23 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Elena Evmorfopoulou accounted for 12 points for the winning side. Four AO Ellinikou players scored in double figures. Forward Zafiria Giabani (185-92) came up with 10 points and 4 assists and forward Pashalia Tziata (184-82) added 4 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Panionios in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. AO Ellinikou have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted AO Ellinikou maintains first place with 3-0 record, which they share with Panathinaikos and Athinaikos. Loser Panionios still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with GAC Eunikos and Olympiakos. AO Ellinikou will meet Ikaros Kalitheas (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panionios will play against Aris (#9) in Thessaloniki and hopes to get finally their first victory.
