Regular Season Round 4: Akita NH - Gunma 98-60

No shocking result in a game when top-ranked Akita Happinets (3-0) outleveled at home bottom-ranked Gunma (0-5) 98-60 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Akita Happinets. Gunma was better in fourth quarter 23-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Akita Happinets dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Gunma's 34. They outrebounded Gunma 49-34 including a 42-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Akita Happinets looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Gunma's players. Gunma was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward T.J. Cummings (205-81, college: UCLA, agency: Top Notch Sports) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import power forward Anthony Kent (208-83, college: Ball St., agency: Top Notch Sports) who added 11 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. At the losing side Vincentian center Nyika Williams (203-87, college: Pacific) responded with 11 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward Damien Brown (201-87, college: Averett) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Akita Happinets have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Okinawa GK and Shimane SM. Newly promoted Gunma still closes the standings with five games lost. Akita Happinets will face again Gunma (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
