Regular Season Round 9: Hitachi Cougars - Toyota A. 41-83

There was no surprise in Hitachinaka where 10th ranked Hitachi Cougars (1-7) were crushed by sixth ranked Toyota A. (5-3) 83-41. The game without a history. Toyota A. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hitachi Cougars to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Toyota A. dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Cougars' 36. They outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 37-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. International guard Maya Kawahara (167-87) nailed 22 points and 4 assists for the winning side and the former international forward Ryoko Yano (178-78) accounted for 11 points and 5 rebounds. Four Toyota A. players scored in double figures. Center Yuri Ikeuchi (180-89) came up with 7 points and 7 rebounds and guard Hiroko Noda (164-83) added 9 points respectively for Hitachi Cougars in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Toyota A.. They moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted Hitachi Cougars keep the tenth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
