Regular Season Round 9: Ebara Vickies - Fujitsu RW 56-75

The game in Tokyo was also quite interesting. Leader Fujitsu RW (7-0) played at the court of 7th ranked Ebara Vickies (3-4). Fujitsu RW did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 75-56 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Fujitsu RW. Ebara Vickies managed to win second period 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fujitsu RW shot 19 for 27 from the free-throw line, while Ebara Vickies only scored two points from the stripe. They outrebounded Ebara Vickies 45-32 including 30 on the defensive glass. International forward Yoko Nagi (175-82) stepped up and scored 19 points and 4 steals for the winners and international power forward Ayumi Suzuki (179-85) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds. Four Fujitsu RW players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Misako Rikuden (172-86) with 14 points and 8 rebounds and forward Kazumi Ogawa (178-86) scored 15 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fujitsu RW have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with JX Sunflowers. Ebara Vickies lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the seventh place with four games lost. They share the position with Toyota B SR. Fujitsu RW will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ebara Vickies will play again against the league's leader Fujitsu RW (#1) in Kawasaki and hope to secure a win.
