An interesting game took place in where higher ranked Pioneros (9-6) were upseton the court of fifteenth ranked Gansos (2-13) 100-91 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Pioneros. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 34-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Gansos made 35-of-46 free shots (76.1 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import swingman Royce Gaye (193-88, college: Tex.A&M-Kingsv.) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Joaquin Villanueva (207-86) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and the former international guard Jorge Gutierrez (190-88, college: California) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gansos moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Osos. Loser Pioneros keep the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Panteras. Gansos will meet at home higher ranked Guerreros (#13) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pioneros will play against Soles (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
